Marius Fabre Marseille laundry soap – 400 g

Marseille laundry soap from the Marius Fabre workshop in the south of France, where since 1900, now by the fourth generation, soap has been boiled in a kettle according to a traditional recipe. The manufacturer experimented for a long time with a palm oil-free version, and finally decided on sunflower oil: today this and coconut oil form the base of the soap.

Sunflower oil is high in oleic acid and rich in vitamin E and omega-9, so it is particularly gentle on the skin – the soap can even be used for washing hands and face. It contains no colourants, added fragrances or petroleum derivatives.

We recommend it primarily for delicate garments requiring hand washing – baby clothes, wool, silk, lace – and for stain removal, thanks to its excellent grease-cutting ability. One bar lasts a very long time, and a washing gel can also be made from it.

Usage:

• For stain removal: wet the soap, rub the stain with it, leave to work for a few minutes, then rinse or wash the garment.
• For hand washing: dissolve a little grated soap in warm water, and wash the delicate item in it.
• Homemade washing gel: heat 50 g of grated soap with 3 litres of mineral water over a low flame until the soap melts, then mix well with a hand blender. It can be scented with a few drops of lavender or tea tree essential oil, which also increases its shelf life.

Storage:

After use, put it in a soap dish or on a rack where it can dry – this way it lasts a very long time.
